Forecast wasn't great, and risk of the westerly wind going WNW didn't help choosing the spot to sail. Opted for Coooden, as if I was going to get skunked, it was at least pretty local !

Got down there before 12, and set about rigging the 7.3m North Ram. Got that all sorted, though rigging on my old Gaastra mast might not be ideal, though the set wasn't too bad.

Plugged it all into the Fanatic Ray 125, and then had to listen to 'Baydrew' telling me ''you'll never get going on that'' ...... so nothing for it .... suited up and .... planed off the beach.

To be fair it was a bit marginal at first, though it filled in a little and I had a pretty good hour on the water well powered up, while 'Baydrew' put his 9m back in his van and rigged his 8m instead, plugging into his Rocket 125.

I had called 'Gutted' just before I launched, and sure enough, just as the wind dropped a bit, he'd arrived and rigged his 7.8m and Rocket 125.

Had a marginal 40 mins or so as they joined me on the water, and then it filled back in a little, just before it started to get dark.

Best bit was just before everyone else decided to join me ... guess they killed it a bit ... LOL

The Ray felt pretty good, in fact it felt like a board you could just get on and ride, without even thinking about it. It felt pretty quick, though without gps or others to race it's not so easy to tell. Seemed to fly in a really balanced manner, and also go through lulls okay. The Ram had a different feel to my old GTX's, but felt nicely balanced, stable, and also closed the slot. I could probably have done with the 8.4m, and perhaps even should have been rigged with a bit more downhaul. Looked to twist off okay when watched 'gutted' using, my kit ... in fact i think it looked really nice sail all round, right down to the colour choice .... certainly makes a visual change to my red gaastra's ;-)

Nice session, glad I got the best bit too ....
